Having Some Issues

Posted by Drew on December 16, '08

There are a few things that are plaguing me as far as problems on this site go.

Main Issues

In Firefox and Safari (my favorite browsers), the header image reloads on each page. It's not staying loaded for each page refresh.

Safari

In Safari particularly, the css sprite images (the navigation) are causing problems. I have 5 different images (for each navigation item) with 3 different states for each (up, hover, active). When the home page first loads in Safari, those images flash and disappear real quick on the first hover. It is beginning to drive me nuts.

Opera

When using a png fix, the header image and all png's I used disappear in Opera 9.52. If I remove the fix, everything is fine. It has something to do with the clear.gif image that is used in the fix, but I'm not sure what.

The strange thing about all of this is that I normally have very few issues in these browsers, particularly when I've been testing them locally for a few days. I have a good bit of work left to get everything running how I want. In addition, as I said before, I have to add the additional blog features, clean up some code and functionality, and do some additional dirty work. I'm hoping that things figure themselves out and my computer is just caching the pages weird.

Just To Top Things Off

I can't get full CSS or HTML validation because of the Flickr badge javascript code that is embedded in the page to display my Flickr photostream. I will get to the bottom of that.

Conclusion

I've got some work ahead of me, but I'm determined to figure everything out.
